A Simple Step
If you boil down just about anybody's faith journey and how they came to know Christ, it usually begins with a walk across the room. Just a few short steps manage to change lives forever. Whether it is walking over to a stranger, a visitor, a friend or a co-worker, all that matters is that you take the first steps. After that it is all up to God!
Just Walk Across the Room (JWATR) is a course which will set you on a life changing journey. It will inspire and equip you to look for opportunities to take a step of faith and start a conversation. Whether you just speak a kind word, ask a good question or start up a friendship, by taking a few steps and walking across the room, you can help point people to Jesus. To change lives forever.
Check out what some past ashgrovers have said about the course:
What made you decide to do the JWATR course?
Interested in evangelism and wanted to be more involved with ashgrove.
To help me with sharing my faith with my non-christian friends and family and neighbours.
What were your expectations and thoughts before you came to the first JWATR meeting?
Worries - that it would show me up as not very evangelistic.
I didn't want to be told exactly what to do, or for it to be too 'evangelical' in the sense of 'bible bashing'.
Worried about being challenged...and I was!
Ways the course helped you?
How to share my faith - I was really challenged to have my story prepared.
It's taken the pressure off me. I don't think I have to convert everyone I meet at first opportunity. I now recognise I am playing a part in God's design for other people.
It has confirmed that the friendships I have built over the years have not been in vain. I don't have to keep feeling guilty. I have the Holy Spirit to be in charge. I am increasing my passion for the lost.
Helped me think about my own testimony. I was inspired by other stories and encouraged the by points raised each week.
Re-adjusted my thinking on how to witness - it's not about memorising a list of 'how to's' its about building authentic relationships and being responsive to the Holy Spirit.
I have often wondered how I could introduce spiritual issues in conversation. The course has helped.
Best things about the course?
Meeting new people...that was great.
The book was easy to read.
Hearing other people's experiences.
Something so simple can make such a difference. Are you ready to take a step and walk across the room?
