The Wow Factor

Have you ever had a moment in your life when you've been struck by the WOW factor? You know, those times when you see something so amazing that it just stops you in your tracks and makes you go, 'WOW!!' For me, it was when my son Isaiah was born.  I actually heard him cry before he was out, and in that moment I was fully hit by the WOW factor!

One thing I've just loved about working in the kids' ministries of the church are those moments when kids hear a story about Jesus they've never heard before. Talk about the WOW factor! One little boy's eyes nearly popped out of his head when he heard that Jesus took a little boy's lunch, shared it around five thousand people, and it didn't run out! 'WOW, how did he do that?' He squealed! And during an Easter presentation, with some 8 and 9 year olds, we reached the part where Mary discovered the tomb was empty and that Jesus had risen, one little girl's hand shot straight up and she blurted out, 'you know what, that has to be just the biggest complete miracle I've ever heard!'

See, when kids hear about Jesus, they are genuinely amazed!  It's the best WOW factor moment you'll ever see, and it's why the kids' ministries of the church are so important. God loves kids, and kids love God, and that's why, as a church, we have teams of people working in ministries like JAM, Fuel and Playcentre.

We have a super exciting term coming up for kids@ashgrove.  JAM has kicked off again and sees 50 - 60 kids having great fun and hearing about Jesus on a Friday night. Fuel is also back for the term and is where kids worship together and hear incredible stories from the Bible. And for the first time ever we're working hard at the moment to start a kids holiday program in the June/July school holidays!  Keep a look out because more details will be out soon about that one.

God is truly doing an awesome thing in the lives of children in the ashgrove community, and we're always on the job of resourcing kids' ministries and building teams of people to be involved. We'd love to hear from you if you're keen to know more about what's going on, or keen to get involved in the great work God is doing!
