Up to Date: Property Redevelopment

As ashgrove continues down the path we believe God is calling us to, we want to ensure our physical facilities keep abreast of the ministry opportunities God is placing before His church. For 6 months now people have had the opportunity to view and comment on the proposed redevelopment of our facilities. Overwhelmingly, people have embraced the proposed new facilities and the remodelling concepts for our existing facilities. But the work of the Redevelopment Committee is far from over - there is still much to do!
Right now, the Redevelopment Committee is fine tuning the Master Redevelopment Plan and having preliminary meetings with Brisbane City Council. The aim of this process it to be able to bring a finalised Master Plan to our church community for approval and adoption before the end of the year.
The Redevelopment Committee's brief stemmed out of the key priority findings from the ashgrove 320 Survey in October 2008:
- Being relevant to and reaching out to our community;
- Developing more effective youth / young adult ministries;
- Building a sense of community; and
- Need for strong children's and youth ministries.
As well as looking at how our facilities can support these priorities, we have also seen strategic Ministry Team appointments made to spearhead these areas. Daniel Paterson, Stewart Beveridge and Tim Sweetman have added much depth and experience to our Ministry Team in the last 12 months.
So what can we expect to see in the finalised plans?
- Fine tuning the proposed staging of works to address what might assist our growing children's and youth work the most
- Internal modifications to the main auditorium
- Creation of a life hub foyer to the main auditorium and existing hall
- New multi-purpose youth/sports/community hall
- New administration facilities with increased capacity for staff, meeting rooms and counselling facilities.
And of course, these amazing plans will have financial implications for ashgrove. This is also something the Redevelopment Committee is carefully considering, such that a realistic budget for these works can be brought to our church community.
So, keep your ear to the ground for the next update in this exciting chapter of ashgrove's history. Come and engage with the final Master Redevelopment Plan when it is issued and pray with us for God's clear direction and leading. It is in faith that we will step into ashgrove's future and all that it holds - faith in a God who has proven himself true throughout the history of our church and who we know to be good and able to do exceeding, abundantly more than we could ever hope or imagine.
