SIGN: pointing people to Jesus

It's time to deal with all those caricatures and failed models of evangelism.  And it's time to see, experience, and share in new ways how the Gospel really is good news, even for a cynical culture tired of talk.  Kicking off ashgrove-wide on Sunday 6th February, the whole month is about SIGN: pointing people to Jesus.

What is SIGN?

SIGN is a 4 week series exploring the model and the message we use for sharing the good news of the gospel message. We'll use the four Sundays in February to present metaphors of evangelism that relate to people today.  Midweek, we meet as a large group to explore the Sunday message in depth and develop a tailored, personal response. We meet as a large group and break into pairs or triplets to complete the workshops.

Why are we doing it?

How do you have a rational discussion about faith with someone who is sick of religious talk and is suspicious of the motives of the church? Some people are interested in what God has done in your life and why faith matters, but how do you get beyond that? SIGN presents metaphors and ideas help explain the gospel message to a post-modern audience.  SIGN explains the underlying theology of the gospel message and offers a model that citizens of the post-modern & media/visual age can grasp.

When is it on?

Sign is a four week event!  Kevin, Dan and Stewart will be presenting four talks on Sunday in both worship gatherings (Feb 6,13,20,27) that you reflect on through the week. Everyone will then meet at ashgrove on Wednesday evenings @ 7.30pm (Feb 9, 16,23) to explore the Sunday message in depth and develop a tailored, personal response.

What do people need to do to get involved?

Claim the dates in February! Sunday 6, 13, 20, 27 & Wednesday evening 9, 16, 23. The series builds on each week's material and your get the most out of the series if you attend each session. There is no Life-Group activity in February, so that everyone can get involved in this series.  Each participant needs to pre-purchase a workbook that contains the teaching notes, daily readings and resources for next steps. These will be on sale in the following weeks.
