Before the Treadmill Takes Over

When I was studying youthwork our lecturers would drill into us this saying that "an unreflected experience is a wasted experience."  At the time I found it unimportant but with some more years on me I can see that the treadmill of life has the potential to run us down to a point where we forget why we are doing what we are doing.  Going through the motions, lowering our expectations of God and doing things out of habit become the norm.  But I get the impression from Jesus' life that no experience went unreflected, that everything had a purpose to it, that his expectations of the Father were boundless and that for his disciples every activity and ministry experience was an opportunity for Jesus to help them grow in their skills, their character and ultimately their faith.

The Weekend of Leadership is an opportunity to step off the treadmill and to reflect and reorientate, taking the initiative to allow God to grow us in skills, character and faith.  John Sweetman (the principal of Malyon College and the founder of the Leadership Centre) will be sharing twice on the Saturday on  Leading God's way and The Dangers and Distractions we face and how to persevere.  We will also have times of group reflection, panel discussion and some electives as well as opportunities for teams to gather together.  So if you haven't already done so put this in your diary as an opportunity to start 2011 by taking some important time to reflect and reorientate.  And while you're at why not put another time later in the year for you to again reflect on who you are becoming in Him - and do it before the treadmill takes over.

Dates: 22-23 Jan
Cost: $15

To register:  Pick up a form from the church and return to the church office/place in the black boxes of the auditorium.
