Celebrating mothers
Mothers' Day is approaching and ashgrove is getting ready to celebrate mums and all that they do. Check out some truths about mums and learn how you can get involved in celebrating mothers this Sunday!
The truth about Mums...
♥Tuesday is the most popular day of the week in which to have a baby.
♥When the female embryo is only six weeks old, it makes preparations for her motherhood by developing egg cells for future offspring. (When the baby girl is born, each of her ovaries carries about a million egg cells, all that she will ever have).
♥A mother giraffe often gives birth while standing, so the new born's first experience outside the womb is a 1.8-meter (6-foot) drop.
♥George Washington once said, 'My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her.'
♥Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia who started Mother's Day celebrations also filed a lawsuit in an effort to stop the over-commercialisation of Mother's Day. She lost her fight. Anna had hoped for a day of reflection and quiet prayer by families, thanking God for all that mothers had done.

Mums @ ashgrove
ashgrove is celebrating mothers at both our worship gatherings this coming Sunday! Bring your mum and treat her to a hand massage at the pamper zone or to enjoy a special morning tea following the 10am service.
There is still time to send in photos of you and your mum, or you with your kids to be included in the Mums on the Big Screen slideshow. Send your photos to communications@ashgrove.org.au or pop into the church office with your photograph. Make sure you include the names of the mother and children who appear in the photograph! Photographs need to be submitted by 4pm Thursday 5 May to be included.
Scattering joy...
At ashgrove we care for people in lots of ways; we are committed to caring for the least, the lost, the broken and the forgotten. In the last few months, we have been involved in financially supporting those affected families in the Brisbane & Lockyer Valley areas. We used local church connections to distribute gifts to families in need.
Mothers' Day is another special opportunity to support Mothers and families who are still recovering. We invite you to make a difference this Mothers' Day by bringing one or more gift cards to our worship gatherings this Sunday. These along with a message of support will be distributed through our networks to mums who are working hard to get their families back on their feet.
How you can participate...
Buy a gift card/voucher of any amount from any of the following retailers:
♥ Woolworths Wish Cards
♥ Coles Myer Gift Card
♥ Bunnings Warehouse
♥ Mitre 10
Bring it to on Mothers' Day and help share the love with other mothers and families. There will be cards provided for you to write a message of love, support and encouragement to those who may be finding it hard to find joy this Mothers' Day.
Here at ashgrove, we love mums and can't wait to celebrate with you on Sunday!
